Junior Systems Engineer
Job Description:
This position will require the candidate to assist the senior engineer in planning/building/maintaining the inter-company and also client product solutions on a server level. Shift work is required. This job opportunity requires a self-starter with a strong desire to learn.
Responsibilities:
1. Server & OS installations (Local and remote)
2. Monitor OS patch levels and keep Co's systems up to date with critical security bugs and software flaws
3. Provide Level 2 support for Co's ASP and Managed Services as well as internal IT systems
4. 24 x 7 on call support in case of critical failure
5. Perform regular maintenence on all classes of systems to ensure smooth and reliable operation
6. Exploration of new technologies with the infra team for possible future incorporation.
7. Documentation of processes and procedures
Skills required:
Familiarity with data center environments Good Understanding of TCP/IP Linux / Unix server administration and maintenence (Experience in RHEL/SunOS a benefit) Basic understanding of Networking Systems, Routers, Switches, Load Balancers Experience in building/deploying SAN, ISCSI based solutions. Familarity with DNS, DHCP, Apache, PHP, MySQL, SMTP Familiarity with scripting languages such as Perl. Vendor specific trainging a benefit. (IBM, Sun, Redhat) Understanding of PXEboot and remote installation technology.
